1st ever MuSiC rehearsal
This recording was done with a really bad mix and a bad equipment, so the sound get often really distorted,
but it is a pretty rare document of the first MuSiC rehearsal. So i guess any Cipollina fan want to have it.
1st generation copy from Cipollina Master cassette > Nakamichi > amplifiers > tascam audio cdrw750 > cd > computer > plex tool professional XL > wav > flac.

- | this was given to me as a "MuSiC" show (Dinosaurs classic lineup w/out Hunter, but Merl Saunders sitting in for the whole show). As this
was the lineup #2 [of Dinosaurs] I list these also as Dinosaurs shows. |

Steve Keyser's list on JohnCipollina.com has a show on 2/10/84, I think the Feb 10 date is correct. |

Comments: |
- | Includes solo spots by each of them, apart from Barry + |
- | Mick spoke to Barry recently to ask him when the name "MuSiC" was used. He told him that it was usually when Peter and Spencer were not available and their places would be filled by friends. This show appears to be the exception that proves the rule. |
- | They are clearly shown as being MuSiC for this show, in the San Francisco Examiner. |

NB: | The 2 recordings attributed to MuSiC, Last Day Saloon, July 20, 1984 have setlists with very little overlap. |
Commenter #1: | "I did find the following [billing]: July 20, 1984 Last Day Saloon - MuSiC, Barry Melton, Merle Saunders & John Cipollina |
Commenter #2: | "Joey Covington, Bob Flurie & Mike Wilhelm are on the [longer] recording, Barry announces them... There's also a harmonica player.
He also announced 'Harry Reems' on lead guitar. It does sound like another guitar is in there but I've never heard of Harry Reems other than the porn star
(Deep Throat!). It may just be Barry's sense of humor! Or Bob Flurie...
I believe MUSIC existed from Jan. 1984 until probably around the time of this 7/20 show. Robert Hunter's last show was 7/15/84 so it was definitely billed as
MuSiC, being 5 days later. I don't remember Hunter announcing or hearing anywhere else that 7/15 was his last show. At the end of the 7/15 show Steve Keyser
announced the next Dinosaur shows being 8/17 and 8/18 which were with Merl."
|
Commenter #3: | "I recorded the longer version myself and no show at that time would be Billed as Dinosaurs with Merl (thus MuSiC!) because
Hunter was still in the band [Dinosaurs] at the time." |

- | If you look at the spectral view of this recording you may have some doubts as to it's stated source but we are going with what Steve has it listed as. |
- | Be careful with your volume setting because this one jumps right of the speakers and into your face. |
Notes: |
- | The last 4:30 of "Mona" has been patched on from an unknown aud that circulates. It was pitch adjusted and eq'd so that it is a better fit. |
