MAC (Taped by Steve Rolfe, Nak 700s > Sony D5) > Nakamichi Dragon playback > Art DI/O > Egosys Waveterminal 2496 > Cool Edit 2000 > sector boundary alignment (shntool) > .shn encoding (mkwACT) > FLAC encoding (shntool).

Cassette >> shn by David Minches, info & FLAC encoding by jjoops.

Notes:
-Absolutely stellar recording, low vocals but crystal clear instruments (especially guitar!).
-I have archived and circulated this in FLAC format, using shntool's 'shntool conv -o flac *.shn' command, but retained the md5s from the original .shn set.
Thanks to Steve Rolfe for taping & sharing and David Minches for transferring and circulating!

Cassette SB Master > M-Audio Transit > Cool Edit > CD Wave Editor > FLAC

for all the john cipollina fans out there, here's my sb master of the s.f. all stars from amityville, ny in may of 1979. john gave me permission to plug in. also in the band are buddy cage, joey covington, mario cipollina and steve love. the mix wasn't great due to the supplied equipment but it's quite clean. interestingly, most of the electric instruments were not miked so the bass is lacking but you can't tell on john's playing since he was so loud! on a side note, the opening act was local long island dead cover band, timberwolf, featuring future zen trickster, dead, lesh & friends keyboardist; rob barraco. enjoy, dave

The gen. is unknown to me, but judging by my source, this either has to be from the master, or more likely, 1st gen.

This is the '84 version of S.F.A.S., which doesn't have Buddy Cage and Mario Cipollina as in '79 version, but instead has Nick Gravenites and Papa John Creach. It's not a bad trade off, eh?

The recording surely isn't the complete show, but it's all I ever found of it.. so it's short, but very sweet! Some of the music in here is Outstanding with a capital "O"! Quite special to hear Cipollina and Gravenites play with Papa John.. makes you wonder why they didn't do it more!

Soundboard

"This is a soundboard show I got about 2 weeks after the shows. The sound is A- some soundboard glitches buzzing stuff like that otherwise it's a great show. I usually don't post stuff I didn't tape but it seems that this show does not circulate around and the copies I have seen have a different setlist. Any question feel free to ask and I will try to answer the best I can. Enjoy..." - joebeacon
